NMSU NM FAST to host 7th SBIR/STTR innovation summit

New Mexico State University (NMSU) announced the seventh annual New Mexico Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Innovation Summit. The summit, organized by the New Mexico Federal and State Technology (NM FAST) Partnership Program at NMSU's Arrowhead Center, invites participation from small businesses, federal program managers, defense representatives, experts, and support organizations committed to advancing innovation, according to a press release by NMSU.

On Dec. 13, at the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque, NM FAST is orchestrating the summit with backing from the Air Force Research Lab. They are collaborating with the Navy’s SBIR/STTR program. The summit promises engaging sessions featuring expert-led panels and federal officers. Participants will have the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with experts and key decision-makers to explore their innovative concepts. Panels during the summit will demystify the SBIR/STTR review process, delve into funding opportunities for startup research and development, and emphasize the importance of collaboration and partnership, according to a press release by NMSU.

“We are excited to bring the summit back in person and have curated an incredible line-up of speakers and topics for this year’s event”, said Dana Catron, deputy director and SBIR program director at Arrowhead Center according to a press release by NMSU. “Anyone interested in securing non-dilutive federal funding needs to attend and register for one-on-one sessions with program managers.”

Federal agency program managers will share insights into the distinctions among SBIR/STTR agencies and the kinds of innovations they support. Representatives from the Navy SBIR/STTR programs will present upcoming topics and offer guidance for competitive proposal packages. The summit will cover crucial federal-level insights which make it an invaluable event for businesses nationwide by shedding light on differences between SBIR/STTR agencies and showing how to navigate grant pathways for tech-focused startups. The SBIR/STTR programs are overseen by the United States Small Business Administration according to a press release by NMSU.
