Nuevo Atrisco breaks ground on commercial plaza

The city of Albuquerque announced revealed that Nuevo Atrisco has initiated the construction of the next phase of its development project. Under an agreement with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA), Nuevo Atrisco, LLC, will lease 1.6 acres of the site to establish a dynamic community plaza, according to a press release by the city of Albuquerque.

The community plaza initiative will involve the construction of a 16,900-square-foot plaza designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. Equipped with various amenities such as restrooms, a teaching kitchen, community room, interactive play area, water feature, art installations, shade structures, and a stage for community events, this inclusive space aims to cater to a wide range of interests.

“We believe in this community, and we envision more things happening,” said Steve Maestas of Nuevo Atrisco LLC. “We develop in all parts of the state and in Texas, and this community is very active, very appreciative and very engaged in what happens here. It makes our lives much more fruitful when we can have a working partnership with the community.”

In addition to these facilities, leasing opportunities for seven micro-restaurants will also be made available at the plaza. This initiative is aimed at fostering culinary diversity and entrepreneurial ventures within the community. Approximately 1.5 acres have been designated for commercial development along Central Avenue.

“The Nuevo Atrisco development project represents a collective effort to revitalize and empower our community," said MRA Director Terry Brunner. "This project is a testament to our commitment to fostering vibrant communities and supporting local businesses. We are eager to see the positive impact it will have on our city."
