Nuevo Atrisco breaks ground on commercial plaza

The city of Albuquerque announced revealed that Nuevo Atrisco has initiated the construction of the next phase of its development project. Under an agreement with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA), Nuevo Atrisco, LLC, will lease 1.6 acres of the site to establish a dynamic community plaza, according to a press release by the city of Albuquerque.

The community plaza initiative will involve the construction of a 16,900-square-foot plaza designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. Equipped with various amenities such as restrooms, a teaching kitchen, community room, interactive play area, water feature, art installations, shade structures, and a stage for community events, this inclusive space aims to cater to a wide range of interests," said the city of Albuquerque in a press release.

"We believe in this community, and we envision more things happening," said Steve Maestas from Nuevo Atrisco LLC. "We develop in all parts of the state and in Texas, and this community is very active, very appreciative, and very engaged in what happens here. It makes our lives much more fruitful when we can have a working partnership with the community."

Additionally, leasing opportunities will be available for seven micro-restaurants at the plaza - an effort aimed at fostering culinary diversity and entrepreneurial ventures within the community. Approximately 1.5 acres along Central Avenue have been designated for commercial development - marking significant progress in this crucial phase," stated Albuquerque's press release.

"The Nuevo Atrisco development project represents a collective effort to revitalize and empower our community stimulate economic growth and provide unique spaces for engagement and cultural expression", MRA Director Terry Brunner said. "This project is testament to our commitment to fostering vibrant communities and supporting local businesses. We are eager to see positive impact it will have on our city."
