UNM appoints new vice president for Institutional Support Services

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has announced the appointment of Shawna Wolfe as the new vice president for Institutional Support Services (ISS). According to a press release by UNM, Wolfe will lead the largest division within the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration (EVPFA) and will be responsible for overseeing 600 staff and over 200 student employees.

Wolfe brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and Management from Ohio University, as stated by UNM. Her previous leadership roles at Ohio University have equipped her with the necessary skills and expertise to excel in her new position at UNM.

In her role as vice president for ISS, Wolfe will have complete oversight of various areas, including campus environments, facilities, and campus business services. This encompasses responsibilities such as facilities, space planning, capital projects, campus utilities, real estate, and self-sustaining, revenue-generating campus businesses and internal service organizations. Her appointment is set to take effect on December 1, as stated in the press release.

"Shawna brings an abundance of facilities, planning, development, and campus services experience to UNM, including significant leadership roles at Ohio University,” said Executive Vice President for EVPFA, Teresa Costantinidis, according to a press release by UNM. “Her ability to articulate a strategic and collaborative vision will undoubtedly benefit our institution as she advances the work of UNM’s Institutional Support Services team."

The selection of Wolfe followed a rigorous national search, supported by the executive search firm WittKieffer and managed by an internal search committee. Kate Becker, CEO of UNM Hospitals, chaired the search committee. Becker expressed enthusiasm about Wolfe's appointment, stating, "The search committee is enthusiastic about the choice of Ms. Wolfe, and we all eagerly anticipate collaborating with her when she joins UNM. Shawna's passion for higher education and our mission was evident throughout the interview process."

With her extensive experience and passion for higher education, Shawna Wolfe is poised to make a significant impact as the new vice president for Institutional Support Services at the University of New Mexico.
