Ben Greiner Park in North Albuquerque Acres has reopened to the public after undergoing significant upgrades and improvements. The park, located at 8500 Eubank NE, celebrated the completion of these enhancements with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Bernalillo County officials and local residents.

The $565,000 project, funded by impact fees and general obligation bonds, aimed to ensure that the park remains modern and meets current standards. Various aspects of the park were upgraded, including playground features, ADA-compliant parking, new trash receptacles, benches, a shade structure, an upgraded irrigation system, and a revitalized walking trail. The grass field was also replaced and expanded to meet the full minimum soccer field dimensions, allowing for scrimmage play.

District 4 Commissioner Walt Benson expressed the county's commitment to incorporating feedback from the community. He stated, "We used that feedback to revitalize this park to make their visits here safer and more enjoyable." Future plans for the park include upgrades to the parking lot and the entrance gate.

Ben Greiner Park has been a collaborative effort between Bernalillo County and the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA). This partnership coincided with AMAFCA's recent expansion of the nearby North Domingo Baca Dam. The county often licenses land from AMAFCA to establish recreational facilities, making Ben Greiner Park a popular spot for families, soccer enthusiasts, dog walkers, and nature lovers. The park serves as a tribute to Ben Greiner, a local business owner and Albuquerque native who was actively involved in the North Albuquerque Acres Community Association.
