Obituary

Theodoro Saavedra Otero, Sr. age 71, cherished, brother, husband, father, and grandfather entered into his Heavenly inheritance with God the Father on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Ted grew up in Los Lunas, New Mexico where his charm, good looks and vivacious personality made him a popular figure in Valencia county. He was very athletic during his high school years at Los Lunas High School excelling in such sports as basketball, baseball, football, and track. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, working under the command of General Thomas Morgan. He had the distinct honor of receiving the United States commendation medal, among many other awards and citations. In 1977, Ted began a 43 year distinguished career with the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque in various capacities throughout the organization. Ted's outstanding work ethic earned him many awards and recognitions. He was highly regarded by all who worked with him for his warmth and caring for his coworkers and the patients he served.

Ted is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ramona; son, Ted Otero, Jr; daughter-in-law, Tiffany; and grandchildren, Adelyn, Cruz, and Harmony Otero; son, Tony and daughter-in-law, Gina; and grandchildren, Marcus and Sophia; sisters, Dolly, and brother-in-law, Steve Raley; Judy and brother-in-law, Kerry; Debbie Nail; Darlene and brother-in-law, Ed Roche; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Manuela Otero; brother, Anthony Otero; son, Adam Otero; nieces, Tiffany and Rosanna Bransford; and nephew, Gabriel Roche.

A Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 27, 2023, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming, with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Mass will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3674 Highway 47 in Peralta.  Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.  A reception will follow the burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church parish hall.  In lieu of flowers, please have memorial Masses said in his name.
