Betty Thom
November 3, 1929 — February 18, 2023
“I am in God’s pocket today, today. I am in God’s pocket to stay, to stay.”
That was the song Betty Thom wrote several years ago. We did change the last couple of words (the
last three). Betty decided to move into God’s pocket for good. Betty passed away February 18ᵗʰ. She
was 93 years old. She was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Albuquerque with her husband Hugh in
1955.
There she raised and is survived by her three children Richard Thom and wife Marsha, Kathleen
Moerbe and husband James, and Scott Thom and wife Kathleen. She also has five grandchildren and
five great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Ed Kmit and wife Linda, and sister
Shirley Grag. She will be missed by all that knew her including her friend Mary who called every
day for more than 10 years just to check on her, and also by her adopted family in Turkey. The
service will be at Cross Christian Fellowship Church on March 25ᵗʰ at 2:00 pm. A private internment
will be at a later date.
