Obituary

Michael Velasquez, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adolfo and Josefina Velasquez and brother Richard.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara, their daughter Alyssa, and brothers: Robert and Jerry.

Mike was a counselor at Highland High School starting in 1977 and began coaching tennis there soon after. He retired from counseling in 2007 and continued to coach tennis at Highland until 2014. He then began coaching the tennis teams at Valencia and Los Lunas High Schools, finishing his coaching career at Los Lunas High School in 2022. Mike was an avid camper and fisherman, concert-goer, and an amazing cook- which his wife will greatly miss. He touched many lives in his 45 year career of counseling and coaching.

Mike's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:30am at Reflections Chapel located at 2400 Washington St NE  87110.
