Rio Rancho will open its new Quality of Life Center as city leaders continue their efforts to make resources more available and convenient to residents in the rapidly growing city.
The center in the Enchanted Hills will open in a few months, featuring a new library and private meeting rooms. Residents living in the area can avoid a 15-minute trip to the next closest library at Northern Boulevard and Loma Colorado Boulevard.
“This is an area of that’s been traditionally underserved for many, many, many years,” Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull told KRQE News.
The other half of the building is currently being converted into a pickleball court, per community member feedback, though the city would eventually like to expand the facility into becoming more multipurpose.
“Converting these floors very rapidly with rolled-out turf would make sense for kids' camps up in the northern area,” Hull told KRQE News.
The entire area is seeing a burst in development.
“Keeping up with the growth has been very important. That’s why Lincoln Boulevard being connected out to Paseo del Volcan was a vital connection that needed to be made that helped people get into this area and kind of connect the traffic in the area,” Hull said, according to KRQE News. “The city does not have an exact opening date for the facility right now, but it will open sometime this spring.”
