Obituary
Robert (Bob) Schmidt, 82, passed away December 12, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM where he lived with Joan, his wife of 61 years. He was born in Hartford, Ct. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Paul Schmidt, Sr., and brother Paul Schmidt Jr. Bob resided in East Hartford until he graduated from East Hartford High School in 1959 and then joined the Air Force. He retired in 1979 after proudly serving 20 years. He then earned an Associate's Degree from Franklin Pierce College, Nashua NH. Bob later joined Civil Service and served his last assignment at DRMO, Sagamihara, Japan.
Bob has had the most loving, supportive family anyone could ask for, especially during his last illness. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Schmidt of Los Lunas and Albuquerque, NM and son, Christopher Schmidt and daughter-in-law, Janyne of Nashua, N.H. and sister-in-law, Geneva Lariviere of Conroe, TX. He adored his grandchildren; Jennifer and Josephus Edmundson, Robert Metler, Amanda and Aaron Livingston, Scott Schmidt, Krysten and Sean Williamson, and Katey and Jamal Simmons. Bob had great pride in being the great grandfather of 13; Emily, Joey, Allen, Joani, and Madeline Edmundson, Kyler, Nathan, Sasha, and Connor Livingston, Dominick Metler, Addie Livingston, and Nina and Nora Simmons. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Throughout the years Bob was a devoted pet owner, leaving behind dogs Brady and Teddy. He loved sports and was an avid life-long Boston Red Sox and Detroit Lions fan. Bob was also the center for East Hartford's basketball team. He especially enjoyed cooking "Grandpa's beans" and spaghetti sauce for the family and since he retired took great pride in doing the Commissary shopping.
Bob will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. A Memorial service will be held 11 am January 24, 2023, at FRENCH-Wyoming.
