Elected officials in Sandoval County took their oaths of office last week to officially begin their terms as county commissioners, judges and sheriff.

The swearing-in ceremony was held in the chambers of the Sandoval County Commission.

“I’m looking forward to being Sandoval County sheriff for four more years, and doing a good job,” Sheriff Jesse James Casaus told KRQE.

Casaus, a Democrat, defeated Republican Darrell Elder to win the election for sheriff.

Elsewhere, Democrat Linda Gallegos defeated Republican Lawrence Griego for county assessor, and fellow Democrat Katherine Bruch won the County Commission District One seat over GOP candidate Jeanette Nowers Clark.

Republican Michael Meek topped Democrat Gregory Deforest Bennett to win the county commissioner race for District Three.
