Bernie "Pido" Saavedra
Bernie Saavedra, age 79, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 25, 2022, after a short illness. Bernie was a retiree of the Albuquerque Fire Department and was also a homebuilder who built several custom homes for him and his wife, Virginia, including for each of his daughters. Bernie loved boating, fishing, camping, and going to the casino! He worked hard for his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Bernie was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Virginia; son, Christopher; and parents, Flavanio and Flora Saavedra. Bernie is survived by his daughters, Bernice Geiger (Mark), Connie Chavez (Matthew), and Cora Saavedra (Peter); eight grandchildren, Brittney, Vincent, Parris, Willie, Jake, Luke, Christopher, and Paul; three great-grandchildren, and companion Priscilla Griego and family.
Bernie was blessed to live a full life and will be missed.
Eulogy will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass on Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
