Albuquerque citizens and visitors enjoyed an expansive spread of live music performances, food and shopping stalls during Downtown Summerfest at the Civic Plaza on Aug. 6.
Despite overcast, the festival gave attendees plenty to do during the event, which ran from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"Everyone wants to come to this event because this is where Summerfest originated, right here on Civic Plaza," Albuquerque community events coordinator Bree Ortiz said. "So to come down here, just a little bit nostalgic, and have people enjoy coming downtown with their families.”
Downtown Summerfest was the second of three Summerfest events held throughout July and August. Nob Hill's "Route 66 Summerfest," which took place on July 23, included four stages for local bands performing a variety of genres. The national headliner, Las Cafeteras, performed on the main stage following Picosa and Frank Leto & PANdemonium. Downtown Summerfest featured Yacht Rock Revue as the national headliner, performing at the Al Hurricane Pavilion. The final Summerfest, the "Westside Summerfest," will be held at Ventana Ranch Community Park. It will have two stages, and though entertainers haven't yet been named, they are likely to be local talent. Those interested in working as an Artisan Market vendor for the event can apply online.
