Antonio Garcia "Tony"

Antonio (Tony) Garcia, age 95, a lifelong resident of Corrales, New Mexico passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
He was born October 18, 1926 to Pedro Garcia and Francisca Fernandez Garcia. At the time of his death, Tony was one of the oldest residents and original landowners in Corrales.
Tony was a World War II veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. He was one of a few who participated in Operation Castle, a United States series of high-yield (high-energy) atomic weapon test that took place at the Marshall Islands in 1954. After an honorable discharge, Tony returned to Corrales. He became a successful entrepreneur and businessman and also managed and maintained several acres of land where he built his own adobe home one brick at a time. As a self taught agriculturist, he successfully grew and cared for several acres of fruit trees and vegetables.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Francisca Garcia and by his son, Peter Garcia. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Placida Chavez, and two brothers, Isaac and Juan Garcia.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Reeve; two daughters, Vanessa Hofheins (Mark) and Yolanda Garcia. He is also survived by granddaughter, Autumn Hofheins; sister, Maria Gonzales, sister-in-law, Barbara Garcia, several nieces and nephews and a special friend who lived with him at the time of his death, Jo Roybal Izay.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. Family and friends will be notified in the future when a service is scheduled.
