Jon Sepp, a Las Cruces film liaison, said city officials are excited that the movie "The Informant" will be filmed there.
Production of the movie is currently underway, according to KRQE. It is being directed by Michael Oblowiz and produced by Daniel Cummings.
"We're thrilled to welcome 'The Informant' to Las Cruces and bring new opportunities to our local film crew and small businesses," Sepp said.
Actors in the movie include Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth, Dominic Purcell, and Nick Stahl. The film is centered around a terminally ill undercover police officer. He conspires to fake his death with his partner and a drug-addicted informant.
Thirty New Mexicans will be employed as crew members for the film, in addition to two local principal actors and local extras, KRQE reported.
