Margaret Mary (Peggy) Johnson

After courageously battling a long illness, Margaret Mary (Peggy) Johnson passed away on June 29, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends. Peggy was born on June 15, 1942, in Green Bay, WI and was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ruth (Thomas) Schippers; and by brothers, Jack (Jeanette) and Jay (Lorraine). She is survived by two loving brothers, James (Janet) and Joe (Kim); and by her betrothed, Bernie Smith, who lovingly cared for her in the last years of her life. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and life-long friends, including her church family at Risen Savior Catholic Church and her cherished St. Mary's 1960's Lunch Bunch. Nothing stopped her from enjoying life's journey. No matter the pain, she never turned down a trip or social gathering.

Peggy retired after working 22 years as an adjuster for Allstate Insurance. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to visit the Orient, Europe, and almost every state in the US. Peggy was a skillful tole painter and embroiderer and she enjoyed singing with Risen Savior's choir. She loved her Green Bay Packers and attended as many Lobo sporting events as possible. She volunteered with Oasis for many years as a reading tutor for children. The family extends a special thank you to all of Peggy's friends who helped ease her pain and enrich her last days. We will miss our social butterfly but believe that she is now soaring, pain-free, with the angels.

A vigil service will be held on July 26, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A mass will be held on July 27, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior followed by a reception. Burial will be private.
