Obituary

David Ibarbo, born November 26, 1954, in Juarez, MX, to David Ibarbo Sr. and Josefina Ibarbo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. He fought a brave battle with cancer with dignity and love for life. He passed in the loving company of family and friends.

David was a grateful and proud father of four daughters: April (Kino), Vanessa (Christian), Nicole (Steven), and Josefina (Mark) along with 11 grandchildren. Each of them was a source of inspiration to him, and he loved each in a unique and enduring way. He held great love for each of his siblings and their respective families. He had enormous gratitude that they each got to know his life in recovery from his own addictions.

David was the owner of Juntos Podemos, Inc. II, Outpatient Substance Abuse Dependence Education, Prevention, and Treatment/Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Facility in Albuquerque, NM. Numerous individuals were treated successfully through this program. He co-authored "Addictions: The Addictive Process Within Native Americans and Other Identifiable Groups of Individual Families and Society" (Ibarbo, Gloria De Tevis & Ibarbo, David. 1990).

He was a 35-year member of Narcotics Anonymous where his life grew in amazing ways. He was a support to many members over those years. His greatest goal was to assist all newcomers who sought to live a life free of addiction. He also was a member of several Substance Abuse Prevention Coalitions in Anthony, Las Cruces and Albuquerque, NM., where he gave of his time and energy freely.

David was preceded in death by his parents who loved him dearly, and one grandchild Kinito Perez, Jr. Survivors are his four daughters, and Concha Alvarado, as well as his siblings Suky Rayas (Leon), Joel (Maria), Ismael (Debbie), Yoli Ibarbo (Richard) and Susie Contreras (Jaime), 11 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who loved him and will mourn his loss.

A Celebration of His life will take place on Thursday, June 30th, 2022, with a public visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral service at 3:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
