Obituary

Herbert Vernon Kauffman, was born on November 29,1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Herbert Vernon Kauffman, Sr.  and Albina Theresa Okruhlik. He grew up as a boy scout, graduated from Sandia High School, Class of  later enlisted as a Chef in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam war. He was proud to have served in the United States Military. 

He lived in Osaka, Japan, New York City, NY, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, Lebanon Missouri and finally settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

Herb met his wife, Judy, at a common friends poker game. Their first date was to see the movie “The Ten Commandments”. They fell in love, married and had their only son, Michael (Mike).

Herb had a love for watching movies, camping, and NASCAR! That man could not be interrupted during his car races but nothing would beat his love for cooking and art. 

Herb spent many years as the Main Head Chef at Paul's Monterey Inn. He retired from there and spent his remaining time enjoying his grandchildren and finding hobbies. Herb found his love for crafting, art, sculpting and woodworking. He spent most of his final time making some beautiful masterpieces that will be forever cherished. 

Herbert is survived by his son, Michael Kauffman and wife, Carolyn; Grandchildren Marcus, Michael, Angelique, and Jacob, Great Granddaughter Addison Renee, Brother, Larry Kauffman and his partner, Mary, and Brother, Jim Kauffman and his wife, Karen. Herbert was proceeded in death by his wife, Judy Kauffman; and parents, Herbert and Bea Kauffman. He will be greatly missed by many who love and admire him.
