An Albuquerque business is offering a "boot camp" for new business owners looking to get started in cannabis in New Mexico.

According to KOB 4 News, since recreational marijuana was legalized in New Mexico, cannabis businesses in the state have been growing with many residents looking to get in on the action.

SeedCrest is a local Albuquerque cannabis education and workforce solutions company offering is offering an educational class to those who wish to grow their marijuana plants. The class is formatted as a college-style boot camp where students will be in class for one hour per day for three weeks.

"We’re looking to create the infrastructure here in New Mexico that works for New Mexicans so that our folks can have the opportunities so that the labor shortages can be resolved in a way that is more meaningful than just finding worker bees for these projects," SeedCrest founder Shanon Jaramillo told KOB 4.

Students can have an opportunity to learn from biologists who know the proper way to grow cannabis plants which require different conditions than other plants. Throughout the class, students learn hands-on by getting a plant from soil to production.

“It’s an exciting time because now you can grow plants in New Mexico and you can practice,” SeedCrest plant biologist Brian Alfaro told KOB 4.

SeedCrest classes start on Monday, June 6, and will last through July 1.
