Obituary
Marvin J. Padilla, age 80, a lifelong resident of Los Padillas, NM went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Yvette Padilla; his daughter, Michelle Padilla; and his son, Marvin J. Padilla, Jr.; granddaughter, Megan Padilla, all residents of Los Padillas, NM; grandson, Shawn W. Padilla, Clayton John Padilla “C.J.”, and Jacob Valenzuela, all of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Victor Padilla and wife, Eleanor of Englewood, FL; brother-in-law, Scott Bartman and wife, Kathy of Richmond, CA; and brother-in-law, Jack Bartman and his wife, Monica of Edgewood, NM; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Lucaria Marino Padilla; son, Shawn Padilla; and brothers and sisters, Benny Cordova, Luis Padilla, Jose Maria Padilla, Manuel “Memo” Padilla, Mariano Padilla, Lucella “Lucy” Padilla, Melita “Mela” Sanchez, and Andrea Padilla.
Mr. Padilla was a lifelong member of Church of the Ascension. He was a proud Navy veteran (1963-1967) and received and Honorable Discharge after serving two tours of duty in Vietnam on the USS Bon Homme Richard, Aircraft Carrier, #CV-31. Following service to his Country, Mr. Padilla began his 21-½ years of service to his community working for the Albuquerque Fire Department from March 27, 1967 until he retired on September 17, 1988.
He will receive a Firefighters’ Funeral with Military Honors on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, an incoming firefighter procession will arrive at 9:30 a.m. with the “Last Alarm” fire truck escorting Mr. Padilla to his final resting place. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. with a prayer service to follow by Deacon Montoya, Celebrant at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Interment immediately following. Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Padilla, Mario Padilla, Michael Padilla, and Victor Padilla, Jr.
