Obituary
Lena C. DeHerrera age 98 of Albuquerque, NM died on Thursday, February 10, 2022. She was born on Thursday, September 27, 1923 in Hastings, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sus J. DeHerrera; son, Stephen DeHerrera; grandson, Phillip DeHerrera; parents, Rev. and Mrs. J.I. Candelaria; and sisters, Fidelia Herrera, Esther Gatewood, and Ruth Boelman; and brother, Carlos Candelaria. She is survived by her son, Brian and wife, Theresa DeHerrera; brother, Joe Candelaria and wife, Priscilla; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lena graduated from Menaul School in 1941 and spent one year at UNM before entering Nursing School in Ganado, AZ. She received her nursing degree in 1945 and worked at Lovelace Clinic for 32 years.
She was a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church where she was an organist for many years. A Memorial Service will be held at 2nd Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 25, 2022, 9:30 a.m.. Interment of cremains will take place at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 2nd Presbyterian Church music fund.
