Obituary

Jerry Arnold Ruybalid, 84, a resident of Bosque Farms, New Mexico passed away December 12, 2021. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Laura Geraldine Ruybalid; his five children, Monica McMaken, Mark (Lynne) Ruybalid, Jerald (Susana) Ruybalid, Andrew (Tammie) Ruybalid, and Christine Ruybalid; four stepchildren Robert Lux, Carlos Lux, Tony Lux, and Laura (Matt) Rivera; his brother, Keith Ruybalid; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Jerry was born in Alamosa, Colorado. In 1942 he moved to Corrales, New Mexico, where his parents became teachers at Sandia View Academy. In 1954, after graduating from Sandia View he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend Union College.

Jerry moved with his family to Glendale, California in 1962 to study to be a registered nurse. He enlisted in the Army and became a commissioned officer. While in the army, he attended school once again to become a CRNA. Among his deployments, during his three decades in the military, included service in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He retired in 1997 as a full colonel.

During his retirement years, he lived in Oklahoma and Ohio and settled in Bosque Farms, New Mexico when he married Geri in 2014.

Jerry was an avid sports fan. He loved to attend sporting events. A dream come true for him was attending the Super Bowl in 2013 in New Orleans, to watch his favorite NFL team the San Francisco 49ers compete.

Jerry lived his life with passion. All of his children, grandchildren, and extended family can attest to his great love for his family. Nothing meant more to him. He will live on in the hearts and memories of his beloved family.

A Memorial Service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandia View Academy, Corrales, New Mexico.
