OBITUARY
Mela T. Chavez was born April 12, 1930. Our mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and beloved wife to John passed away peacefully Friday, November 5, 2021, to be with Our Lord and Savior. Mela joins her husband John J. Chavez and leaves behind her sons Mike, Stan, Ken, and Mark; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Ignacio Tafoya and Ross Tafoya, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was a proud career woman and retired from the Social Security Administration as a Branch Chief. She was a dedicated mother and wife who enjoyed gardening, tending to all her flowers, raising canaries, oil painting, fishing, and spending time with her family.
