The Roswell Independent School District will provide an incentive pay to teachers willing to teach both in-person and online, according to a recent report by KRQE.
Twenty-one teachers will receive the bonus, totaling $2,700 per semester to monitor students with remote learning.
“They make sure that they are doing good, they check in with them and they have some live Zooms. Whereas before, when everybody was at home, we were, every day, trying to continue what was close to normal class as possible,” Superintendent Brian Luck told KRQE.
Currently, 90 students are attending classes virtually throughout the school district. Of these, 46 are elementary school students, 60 are in middle school, and 84 are in high school, according to the station.
According to the report, the district’s goal is to ensure all students receive the same level of education whether they are learning in-person or online. Roswell currently plans to keep the remote-learning classes and hopes to offer them as a permanent option moving forward.
