Obituary of David Leonard Gallegos

David Gallegos escaped this mortal realm on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the age of 85. He leaves behind a wife of 52 years, Patricia Gallegos, children: David Gallegos, Jr., Melinda Garcia and her husband Abel Garcia, Kelley Mullen, Christina Wedberg and her husband Ed Wedberg, grandchildren: Jessica Minero-Grace, Selena Minoletti, Jennice Minero, Anthony Garcia, Amanda Garcia, Trevor Mullen, Lukas Wedberg, and Basie Wedberg, along with numerous great grandchildren. He was a man of good spirit – a good husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Born in Colorado on April 16, 1936, David Gallegos grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and excelled in school. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University. He was a proud Air Force Veteran and worked on airplanes for Boeing while he was stationed in Alaska. Later, he took a crappy and stressful job as a Quality Control Manager for a cable insulation company and never complained once.

Mr. G was world renowned for his skill in telling it like it is, whether you wanted his advice or not. He knew a hell of a lot about everything and oh, was he funny! He could tell a joke or a funny story like nobody else, with wit and a wry, sarcastic sense of humor.

He loved a nice cold beer and cherry cigars. David loved fishing, hunting and took down many a big buck and rainbow trout. He loved bowling, golfing, and played a mean game of 8-ball pool. He stayed active all his life and was always good company. He will be profoundly missed.

The viewing for David Gallegos will take place at Callahan Mortuary on August 29th from 5-7pm and the rosary from 7-8pm. The Mass will be at St. Joseph’s Church on August 30th at 11am. The burial will be on August 31st at 10am at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
