New Mexico Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sante Fe) sounded off on the Afghanistan crisis as the Biden Administration continues attempts to evacuate U.S. and Afghan citizens from the country after Taliban insurgents seized the capital.

Some top military officials are angry with Biden due to them requesting the national security team to begin evacuating vulnerable Afghans months ago,  NBCNews reported.

"Top military officials....are furious at Biden’s national security team because they wanted to start evacuating vulnerable Afghans as early as May but were not allowed to do so, multiple officials told NBC News," state Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Santa Fe) wrote in a Facebook post

According to NBCNews, the CIA's intelligence assessments began to warn of increasing potential for a quick, total collapse of the Afghan military and government following the Taliban's seizure of provinces.

The CIA's description of what the worst-case scenario could be for the county “was pretty close to what happened,” one former official said, as reported by NBCNews.

Although many are slamming Pres. Joe Biden over ending the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, he stands by his decision.

“Afghanistan political leaders gave up and fled the country,” Biden told the nation on Aug. 16. “The Afghan military collapsed, sometimes without trying to fight. If anything, the developments of the past week reinforced that ending U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan now was the right decision.”
