Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), University of New Mexico (UNM) and New Mexico State University (NMSU) are mandating stricter mask-wearing policies and vaccination requirements, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
Medical and religious exemptions are available to those not wanting or able to take vaccines, however, they are required to wear a mask while indoors, the Journal reported.
“This requirement is subject to change based on updated guidance from the New Mexico Department of Health and the CDC,” the CNM policy reads, according to the Journal.
CNM requires all students to be vaccinated no later than Oct. 1, even if they’ve already had COVID. Staff and faculty members are also required to be vaccinated by that time.
UNM students, faculty and staff are required to be vaccinated no later than Sept. 30.
NMSU requires the same for all its employees and students. Similar to UNM, NMSU needs everyone to be vaccinated by the end of September.
Weekly testing will be required for the unvaccinated, but will not be paid for by NMSU, according to the Journal.
