Obituary

Leo Ernest Torres Jr., born in Albuquerque, NM, November 7, 1930 son of Leopoldo Torres Sr. and Dolores Dryefus passed away peacefully July 19, 2021 with the family at his side. After graduation from Albuquerque High School he served 4 years in the Army and a long distinguished career with the Air Force Reserves. He retired from General Electric as a machinist and lifelong involvement with the Catholic Church, including President of Saint Vincent de Paul. He was married and is survived by his loving wife, Melba Torres of 67 years. He is survived by one daughter Patsy Shirey (Bob Shirey) (Tijeras, NM); four sons, Mike (Jena Godley) and Ron Torres (Jennifer Torres) (Albuquerque, NM), Leo Torres (Victoria Metallo-Bostwick) (Clearwater, Florida), and Gerald Armijo (Mike Chavez) (Los Lunas, NM). seven grandchildren, seven great and two great-great-grandchildren. A Viewing will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 5-7:00 p.m. at FRENCH-University. A Mass will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
