Rudy J Vialpando was born on July 17, 1937 to Gregorio and Cirila Vialpando in Lumberton, NM. His childhood schooling included St Francis Catholic School and St Michaels High School in his teenage years. He returned to Lumberton where he met and married his sweetheart Rebecca Jaramillo who fondly remembers pulling his hair in the 5th grade. They celebrated their 67th anniversary in November of last year. They raised eight children, Rudy Joseph (deceased), Anna Ulibarri (David), Elsie Nevarez, Marcella Sisneros (Albert), Rebecca, Mark, Corrine Cardenas (Mike) and Joseph (Melissa). He moved with his wife and family to Santa Fe around 1968 and worked for various construction companies. His experience included mining in his early years, diesel mechanic, blade operator, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, and ranching. He owned and operated Auto Repairs Guarantee. Rudy played an important role in planning and completing Cochiti Dam, US Highway 550 in Cuba, 599 Overpass in Santa Fe and The San Juan-Chama Project tunnel in his earlier years. His whole life was spent breaking and riding his horses. He was active in many horseman activities including barrel racing, roping and horse racing. His horses were his prize possession. He had a great talent for training horses not to mention well trained dogs. He is proceeded in death by his parents Gregorio and Cirila Vialpando, his brothers Eloy, Felix, Gregorio Jr, Max and Pablo Vialpando. Also his grandson Aaron Nevarez, son-in-laws Manuel Ulibarri, Dale Nevarez and Juan Carlos Garcia.
Rudy was blessed with 18 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. He suffered a stroke 4 years ago and his health had been slowly declining. He passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday July 22 at 7:00 am.
He touched so many lives. He will be greatly missed.

Rosary will be held at Berardinelli’s Mortuary 1399 Luisa St., Santa Fe, New Mexico on Monday August 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
Mass will take place at St. Johns Catholic Church, 1301 Osage Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment services will directly follow at Rosario Cemetery 499 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM.
