Eleanor Lucille Riser, 90, a resident of Santa Fe for nearly 50 years passed away on July 23. Mrs. Riser was born in Washington, PA., and grew up in nearby Scenery Hill/Beallsville PA. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, community and to her nursing profession. Mrs. Riser graduated from the Washington School of Nursing and the College of Santa Fe. She worked as an instructor within the nursing program at Northern New Mexico College for 20 years along with serving patients at St. Vincent’s Hospital and other hospitals in the United States. Mrs. Riser also taught elementary students for a few years in Ohio. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, the Nomads Sunday School Class, Bienvenidos, The Republican Women, Silver Sneakers, and previously Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls. Among her interests were gardening, bird watching, and quilting with her friends. Survivors include her son Rev. Harry L. Riser and wife Tammy of Bloomfield, NM; daughter Ellen and husband Rick of Larkspur, Co; Grandchildren Bronson Riser and wife Taylor, Dave Riser, Ethan Riser, Chris Muscato and wife Kristin, Melissa Muscato and fiancée Kevin Selwyn; Great grandchildren Rheay-Lynn, Anakin, Masyn and Meander; her sister Kathleen Johnson Kime of Pa. along with other extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Riser and sister, Louise Smith.
Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Santa Fe on August 3 at 10:30 am. Interment will occur in the Santa Fe National Cemetery on August 23 at 9:45 am.
The family has requested that memorial contributions in her honor be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church.
