Biography

It is with great sadness the families of Chantal Shanae Chavez announce her passing.

Chantal Chavez beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece and cousin was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital on February 21, 1992 to Janet Montano-Gallegos, and Daniel Chavez. of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She was called home to meet our Lord and Savior at the young age of 29.   

She attended Agua Fria Elementary School, Alameda Junior High School and was a proud member of the Graduating 2010 Class of Santa Fe High School. During her academic career she competed in various school wrestling and basketball events.  As a young girl, she also competed in several motocross events and received numerous trophies.

After graduation she attended the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico College to study Nursing.  To further her love of helping others, she joined the staff of Kindred Home Health Care and Hospitality Industry at the Hyatt Hotel, where she won the Employee of the Month Awards several times.

Chantal was loved and appreciated.  She truly enjoyed life and will be greatly missed.  She was an adventurous soul that enjoyed parasailing, swimming with the dolphins, snowmobiling, snowboarding, traveling and music.   She had a deep love for her family, friends, basketball and the Dallas Cowboys.  Her greatest joy were her brothers and nephew.  She was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer what little she had.  She would go above and beyond to make a person feel welcomed.  Chantal’s sense of humor will be missed, but it was her smile that touched all our hearts. 

Chantal is preceded in death by Uncle Melvin Pacheco, Great-Grandparents Jose Maria Pacheco, Carmen and Mary Montano, Step-Grandfather Carlos Gallegos Sr, Mel and Senaida Gallegos, Daniel and Juanita Chavez.

Chantal is survived by mother, Janet Montano-Gallegos and step-father, Carlos Gallegos II brothers Daniel Chavez Jr., Carlos Gallegos III, and nephew Josiah Chavez. Father Daniel Chavez.

Survivors of the Montano Family are Grandparents, Victor & Viola Montano, Belinda Gonzales (Paul), Vicki Torres (Geno), and Victor Montano Jr. along with several cousins all of Santa Fe.  Great Grandmother Ida Pacheco of Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Survivors of the Gallegos Family are Grandmother, Juliette Gallegos, Ralph Gallegos, Carla Gallegos of Las Vegas, NM and Cathy Lucero (Chuck) of Albuquerque, NM.

Survivors of the Chavez Family are Grandparents, Salvador & Oliva Chavez, Ruth Chavez (Brian), Joe Chavez (Elaine), Diane Chavez, Salvador Chavez (Angelique), and Salamon Chavez (Selena) all of Santa Fe, NM.  In addition, she had many cousins that will miss her.

Visitation Services will be held at Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations, 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday June 29, 2021 from 1:30-3:30 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.  A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with a mass to follow, and burial services will continue at Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations, 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM the same afternoon.
