The New Mexico State Fair plans to return to in-person this year, and jobs are up for grabs for the annual event, planned for Sept. 9-19. It has been a New Mexico staple since 1938.

The 2020 fair was canceled last June in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, though some events were still held virtually.

“We are grateful for your understanding and support, and especially grateful to 500,000 people who attend the fair every year,” General Dan Mourning said at the time in a State Fair press release. “Now is the time for us to heal our community and continue to move forward.”

And move forward they have, with the fair announcing hiring for this year’s festivities. Those interested in jobs with the fair can go to Statefair.exponm.com and click the “General Info” tab for employment opportunities.

“Once applicants are ready to submit their application, they should call the Fair’s administration office at 505-222-9700 to schedule a drop-off appointment,” a State Fair release states.

The fair is looking to hire ushers, cashiers, ticket takers, parkers, housekeeping, maintenance, and stall maintenance, according to the release. Positions are also open in the events department, information booth, art department, and entry department, as well as for school days and the farm.

“The New Mexico State Fair is the 2nd largest and best attended event in the state, welcoming half a million people every September. It is a unique celebration of our state’s rich agricultural history, diverse art and culture, and innovative industries,” the release says.
