State Bar of New Mexico installs new officers for 2026

The State Bar of New Mexico held its 2026 swearing-in ceremony for new officers at the New Mexico Supreme Court in Santa Fe on December 10. The event saw Allison H. Block-Chavez take office as President, with Lucy H. Sinkular sworn in as President-Elect and Tomas J. Garcia as Secretary-Treasurer.

Chief Justice David K. Thomson administered the oath to the new officers. Justices Michael E. Vigil, C. Shannon Bacon, and Julie J. Vargas welcomed them into their roles.

During a reception following the ceremony, past presidents Gerald G. “Jerry” Dixon, Carolyn Wolf, Benjamin I. Sherman, Erinna M. “Erin” Akins, and outgoing president Aja N. Brooks participated in passing the symbolic presidential gavel to Block-Chavez.

"We are looking forward to a great year of growth and progress with our new officers taking the lead in 2026!" stated representatives from the State Bar of New Mexico.
