Astris AI, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has introduced the Astris AI for Government initiative aimed at supporting secure and trustworthy artificial intelligence adoption across government agencies. The new platform brings together technology from partners including Oracle, NVIDIA, and Meta to create an integrated environment for building and deploying AI solutions in high-assurance settings.
According to Sarah Hiza, senior vice president of Technology & Strategic Innovation at Lockheed Martin, "Our Astris AI for Government initiative was created to help advance America's AI Action Plan, ensuring American leadership in AI diplomacy and security, while achieving domestic priorities for acquisition reform. By integrating the best of American technology, the Astris AI for Government full-stack solution eliminates fragmentation and procurement barriers that slow adoption for secure, mission-ready AI—without vendor lock-in or complex integration challenges."
The platform is designed to enable federal agencies to process sensitive data on-site without moving information off-network. It uses machine learning operations (MLOps) and generative-AI pipelines to deliver real-time insights while maintaining data protection. Potential applications include disaster response such as wildfire management by the Department of the Interior, energy infrastructure protection, advanced manufacturing optimization, and support for missions like Genesis.
Astris AI for Government solutions are available through Astris AI directly as well as via Oracle Marketplace and federal procurement channels. The offerings include access to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's secure U.S. network tailored for both unclassified and classified regions; open source models from Meta; government-ready NVIDIA software; Lockheed Martin’s engineering expertise; and Astris AI’s MLOps capabilities.
Looking ahead, joint teams are developing PEARL (Persistent Environment for AI, Readiness, and Learning), a large-scale simulation environment that will provide agencies with advanced computing resources for operations analysis and testing.
Lockheed Martin describes Astris AI as part of its Evolve portfolio focused on scaling commercial businesses within the defense sector. The company notes that product features may change over time according to development plans.
