The Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, is estimated at $930 million. The cash value of the prize is about $429 million. If a player wins this draw, it would be the seventh-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. history and could become the largest ever won in New Mexico.
Previous large Powerball jackpots include a record $2.04 billion won in California in November 2022 and a $1.787 billion prize split between Missouri and Texas in September 2025. Other significant jackpots have been claimed across several states, including California, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.
New Mexico has seen five previous Powerball jackpot winners with prizes ranging from $32 million to $206.9 million.
David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery, reminded players to approach lottery games responsibly: “Lottery play should be fun and entertaining. Please remember, it only takes one ticket for a chance to win.”
Tickets for the December 10 draw are available until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time on that day.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play with two optional add-ons: Power Play for an additional dollar multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to ten times; Double Play also costs an extra dollar and offers another chance to win up to $10 million after the main drawing.
Non-jackpot prizes range from $4 up to $1 million and can reach as much as $2 million if purchased with Power Play.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all ticket sales revenue stays within each selling jurisdiction. Drawings take place live from Tallahassee’s Florida Lottery studio and are streamed online at Powerball.com.
Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has contributed over $1.1 billion toward education funding through Legislative Lottery Scholarships that have helped more than 161,000 students attend college.
