The estimated Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Monday, December 8, 2025, has reached $875 million. The cash value of the prize is estimated at $403.6 million. This makes it the seventh-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

According to data from previous drawings, the largest Powerball jackpots include a $2.04 billion prize won in California in November 2022 and a $1.787 billion jackpot split between Missouri and Texas in September 2025. Other notable jackpots were awarded in California, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.

The Powerball jackpot has been won five times by players in New Mexico. In addition to these wins, there have been several winners of prizes worth $1 million or more for both Powerball and Mega Millions games.

Players are encouraged to check their tickets after each draw because non-jackpot prizes can range from $4 up to $1 million. These prizes may be increased if the player selects the Power Play option.

David Barden, CEO of the New Mexico Lottery, said: "New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden reminds players to have fun and play responsibly."

Tickets for tonight’s drawing can be purchased until 8:00 p.m. Mountain Time.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players can also purchase two add-on features: Power Play for an additional $1 per play—which multiplies non-jackpot prizes—and Double Play for another $1 per play, which gives a second chance to win up to $10 million in a separate drawing held after the main one on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Powerball tickets are available in 45 states as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of ticket sales revenue stays within the jurisdiction where tickets are sold. Drawings take place at the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee and are broadcast live as well as streamed online at Powerball.com.

Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has contributed over $1.1 billion to education funding through Legislative Lottery Scholarships, helping more than 161,000 students attend college.
