Allison H. Block-Chavez to be sworn in as president of New Mexico State Bar on Dec. 10

The State Bar of New Mexico has announced that Allison H. Block-Chavez will be sworn in as its next president on December 10 at the New Mexico Supreme Court in Santa Fe. The ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time and will mark the organization's 140th anniversary in 2026.

Aja N. Brooks, the current president of the State Bar of New Mexico, commented on Block-Chavez's appointment: “I am excited for my friend, Allison H. Block-Chavez, as she steps into the role of President of the State Bar of New Mexico. Allison is a true leader with a genuine heart for service, demonstrated through work on numerous State Bar boards, divisions and committees. Her unwavering commitment to our mission, paired with collaborative spirit and creative vision, will undoubtedly guide the Bar toward meaningful and innovative growth in the coming year.”

Richard B. Spinello, Executive Director of the State Bar of New Mexico, also shared his perspective: “Observing Allison during her work with the State Bar, I have continually been struck by her thoughtful leadership. I am confident that she will have a meaningful impact on the legal profession as our next President.”

The swearing-in event will take place at 237 Don Gaspar Ave., Santa Fe, where members of the bar’s leadership and other legal professionals are expected to attend. The ceremony will also be available via livestream on the State Bar’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@StateBarofNewMexico/streams.
