Major General Miguel Aguilar, Interim Cabinet Secretary | New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (Dhsem)
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed an executive order to provide emergency water assistance to residents of the Melody Ranch community in Torrance County. The order, Executive Order 2025-373, instructs the New Mexico Department of Finance Administration to allocate $250,000 to the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM). These funds will be used for resources and services necessary to supply water and ensure safe water quality, in coordination with the New Mexico Department of Environment.
According to the governor's office, self-serve and bottled drinking water is available for pickup at County Line Feed, located at 49 Pony Express Drive in Edgewood. Residents can collect water from Tuesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., until further notice.
DHSEM will also distribute potable water through the existing local system so that residents can access it via home faucets. However, a precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect based on recommendations from the Compliance & Enforcement Division. This advisory was issued due to ongoing shortages and low pressure during limited deliveries; while no contamination has been found, low pressure can increase risk by allowing untreated water or bacteria into the system. The advisory will continue until pressure stabilizes and routine sampling confirms water quality.
Residents are encouraged to conserve water so that supplies last between scheduled deliveries.
For more information about current resources and updates on availability, residents are advised to visit DHSEM’s website.
