New Mexico Association of Realtors highlights legislative wins credited to RPAC support

This year, members of the New Mexico Association of Realtors reported legislative successes that they attribute to support from the REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC). According to the organization, these efforts led to the passage of several bills and the defeat of others during the most recent session at the Roundhouse.

Key measures supported by RPAC investors included increased property tax exemptions for veterans, with adjustments tied to inflation. The association also backed the Wildfire Preparedness Act, which created new programs and funding aimed at protecting homes and communities. Additional legislative victories cited were investments in strategic economic development site readiness, intended to foster community growth and job creation, as well as changes making nonprofit condominium association operations more efficient through remote business provisions.

The association stated it played a role in blocking proposals that it believed would have negatively impacted the real estate industry. These included a proposed ban on businesses and LLCs purchasing single-family homes, potential local rent control ordinances, allowances for unlicensed property managers, mandatory occupancy rates for condominiums, and eviction record expungement policies.

“These wins didn’t happen by accident — they happened because REALTORS invested in RPAC,” said a spokesperson for the organization.
