The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum has initiated construction on its new Outdoor Balloon Adventure exhibit. This development aims to enhance the museum's offerings by providing interactive and family-friendly attractions that celebrate New Mexico's ballooning heritage.

Earlier this month, the museum, alongside special guests, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the exhibit. The project will include features such as a climbable balloon tower and an elevated sky bridge. It is designed by Pland Collaborative in collaboration with experts from various fields.

Nan Masland, Director of the Balloon Museum, said, "The Outdoor Balloon Adventure will not only expand the museum’s footprint with an outdoor exhibit but will also create a dynamic space where visitors can engage with the art, science, and thrill of ballooning in new and immersive ways."

A significant financial boost comes from a challenge grant by the Jim and Marlene Winker Charitable Trust. This grant will match private donations up to $100,000 during Balloon Fiesta 2025. Masland expressed gratitude for this support: "We are deeply grateful to the Jim and Marlene Winker Charitable Trust for this inspiring challenge grant, which encourages our community to come together and support the future of ballooning and the spirit of discovery."

Support for this visionary project also comes from New Mexico True, state entities, city authorities, and private donors. The initiative marks a new chapter for the museum as it extends its reach beyond traditional exhibits.

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce is among those involved in supporting this venture.
