New Mexico residents can now apply for and manage benefits such as food assistance and Medicaid through a new mobile application, YesNM. The app, launched by the New Mexico Health Care Authority, allows users to access health and human services from their smartphones or tablets.

Kari Armijo, secretary of the New Mexico Health Care Authority, said, “We set out to improve the customer experience. New Mexicans already use their phones for everyday needs, and now they can apply for, renew and manage their benefits just as easily — all from one secured place anywhere in the state.”

The YesNM app enables users to apply for benefits, check application status, view updates on eligibility and cases, see all applications in a personalized dashboard, receive instant alerts about changes or important updates, and sign in securely using fingerprint authentication.

The development of the app included input from diverse communities across New Mexico. This included feedback from residents with disabilities and those who speak languages other than English.

Available for download in both the App Store and Google Play, the app requires users to create an account that links to their benefits case. Step-by-step instructions are available at Yes.NM.Gov along with an instructional video.

The launch of YesNM is part of ongoing efforts by the Health Care Authority to improve how residents interact with state-provided health and human services. The agency continues to expand its digital offerings so that more people have access to needed resources.

The New Mexico Health Care Authority administers programs including Medicaid, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program), cash assistance, child support services, behavioral health care statewide; it also oversees state employee health benefits and manages funds aimed at making coverage more affordable for working families. The agency licenses healthcare facilities and investigates complaints while supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities through various community-based programs.
