The University of New Mexico (UNM) will hold its annual Research & Discovery Week from November 6 to 14, featuring a series of events that highlight research, collaboration, and innovation across disciplines. The program includes keynote addresses by two distinguished speakers and a research expo aimed at engaging the community.

Dr. Poppy Crum, an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University and former Chief Scientist at Dolby, will deliver a keynote on Monday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building Ballrooms. Dr. Crum is known for her work as a neuroscientist, technologist, and musician exploring how technology intersects with human experience.

On Tuesday, November 14, Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Modrich will present his keynote address at 4:00 p.m. in Rodey Theater, Popejoy Hall; a reception precedes the event at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Modrich is James B. Duke Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at Duke University and received the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discoveries about DNA repair mechanisms—findings that have significant implications for cancer biology and treatment.

Earlier on November 14, UNM will host the Research Advances New Mexico Expo from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also in the Student Union Building Ballrooms. This expo will feature presentations from research centers and institutes, Grand Challenges teams, and scholars engaged with local communities.

According to organizers, “Research & Discovery Week affirms UNM’s role as a hub of knowledge and innovation. With Nobel-caliber science, visionary perspectives, and a showcase of projects making a difference in New Mexico, the university continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing discovery and engaging the communities it serves.”

Registration for these events is open until October 1st; more information can be found on the official website (https://research.unm.edu/researchanddiscovery.html).
