A Sanostee resident, Nathan Mescale, was sentenced to six years in federal prison for an assault that left a woman with serious injuries. The incident occurred between December 2 and December 3, 2023.
Court documents indicate that Mescale, age 36, assaulted Jane Doe during this period, resulting in significant bodily harm. After completing his prison term, Mescale will be under supervised release for three years. There is no parole in the federal system.
The sentencing was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office. The investigation was conducted by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with support from the Navajo Police Department and Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mia Ulibarri-Rubin prosecuted the case.
