Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández reflects on community ties and remembrance in late September posts

Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District, shared a series of posts on social media between September 22 and September 23, 2025, addressing themes of stewardship, religious celebration, and honoring veterans.

On September 22, Leger Fernández emphasized the importance of community engagement and respect for heritage in land management. She wrote, "Collaboration and stewardship mean walking the lands we share and listening to the voices that have cared for them since time immemorial. Under the same sky, we are one."

The following day, she extended greetings to Jewish communities worldwide during Rosh Hashanah. In her post dated September 23, she stated, "Happy Rosh Hashanah to all who celebrate. I pray that the new year brings blessings and peace for Jewish communities across the world."

Later on September 23, Leger Fernández commemorated Lawrence Talamante from Gallup—a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War—who passed away at age 100. She posted: "Today we mourn the loss of an American hero. Lawrence Talamante from Gallup fought bravely for this country in WWII and the Korean War. He passed away last week at 100 years old.

My heart goes out to his son Paul, may his father watch over us all."

Leger Fernández has represented New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District since her initial election victory in 2020. She secured reelection in subsequent cycles—including defeating Alexis Martinez Johnson in both 2020 (winning with approximately 58.7% of votes) and again in 2022 (with about 58.2%). In the most recent contest in 2024 against Sharon Clahchischilliage, she won by a narrower margin.
