New Mexico Medicaid invites feedback on pregnancy and addiction services revisions

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

New Mexico Medicaid is seeking input from individuals with experience in pregnancy and substance use disorder, as well as their families and community partners, on updates to the state’s Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA). The revision process is mandated by Senate Bill 42.

A public meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 7. Participants can attend in person at 1474 Rodeo Road in Santa Fe or join virtually via Microsoft Teams. The session will include information about proposed changes to CARA and strategies for supporting pregnant people and newborns affected by substance use disorder.

The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) will also explain how interested parties can participate in biweekly work groups. These groups will focus on improving care navigation, training health care workers on evidence-based engagement methods, and ensuring that support services are equitable and accessible for families.

Anyone needing language interpretation or American Sign Language services to attend the meeting is encouraged to contact Madinfo.HCA@hca.nm.gov by September 30.
