The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo has enhanced its planetarium with a state-of-the-art projection system. This upgrade includes high-performance computers, advanced graphics cards, and Digistar software integrated with a 4K laser projection system. The new setup aims to provide visitors with an immersive experience of the cosmos.
Alex Richter, COSM’s Field Service Engineer, commented on the installation: "Digistar enables visitors not just to see, but explore and interact with the universe in ways only dreamed of until now." The upgraded visuals are complemented by a new sound system for a distortion-free viewing experience.
The museum is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. It highlights New Mexico's contributions to the U.S. Space Program and features attractions like the International Space Hall of Fame.
