Gabe Vasquez, U.S. Congressman representing New Mexico’s 2nd district, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing border issues, health care policy, and employment concerns.
On September 4, 2025, Vasquez emphasized his experience with border challenges and called for substantive discussions about immigration reform. He wrote, "I’m here for a reason. I’ve seen our border challenges firsthand, and we need honest talks about the realities at the frontera and how to fix them. That's where I’m leading my party — on a path toward immigration reform, economic security, and smart solutions to tackle cartels."
Later that day, Vasquez commented on health care policy by posting: “Hi, I’m here on behalf of the Republican Party to take your health care away.” This statement was made on September 4, 2025.
On September 5, 2025, he questioned the framing of job losses with the post: "Liberated ... or laid off?"
Vasquez began serving in Congress in 2023 after defeating Yvette Herrell in the 2024 general election with 52.1% of the vote. He succeeded Herrell as representative for New Mexico’s 2nd district.
