The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo is set to host an event honoring the first responders of 9/11. The "Climb the Cube" event, scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2025, invites participants to climb the equivalent of 110 stories. This symbolic act pays tribute to the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, K9 units, and other first responders who lost their lives during the attacks on September 11, 2001.
April James from the New Mexico Museum of Space History said that "each step in Climb the Cube represents resilience, courage, and sacrifice." She emphasized that this event allows people to honor these heroes while acknowledging their lasting impact.
Participants are encouraged to register early due to limited space. Registration opens at 7:30 AM on the day of the event. Those attending can enter a raffle for a fire helmet donated by Milton Blankenship of Casco Industries. The helmet is valued at approximately $600 and will be used by an active Chief or Deputy Chief firefighter. Additionally, limited-edition t-shirts will be available for $20.
