The State Personnel Office Learning and Development Bureau in New Mexico has updated its ethics courses to incorporate training on the new "Nondisclosure of Sensitive Personal Information Act." This statute, enacted during the 2025 legislative session, became effective on July 1, 2025. It governs how employees and contractors of New Mexico state agencies handle sensitive personal information, specifying limits for disclosure and establishing penalties for unauthorized sharing.

The updated courses are "Doing the Right Thing: Demonstrating Workplace Ethics" (SoNM-1759), recommended for all state employees, and "Demonstrating Ethical Leadership" (SoNM-1877), aimed at supervisors and managers. These courses are advised for completion upon hiring and every one to two years thereafter, depending on agency requirements. Employees should provide certificates of completion to their HR representatives unless directed otherwise by agency policy.

Enrollment is available through the Enterprise Learning Management (ELM) system. For those without ELM access, a non-ELM option can be requested. Individuals with disabilities needing accommodations for training can contact Learning.Development@spo.nm.gov.
