The New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) announced that the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) will continue to provide free meals to thousands of New Mexicans in fiscal year 2026.
The CACFP is a federal program that offers nutritious meals and snacks to children and adults in child care centers, family child care homes, emergency shelters, and adult day care centers. By supporting meal services at these facilities, the program aims to improve the health and nutrition of participants while also helping reduce food insecurity across the state.
"Thousands of New Mexicans rely on programs like CACFP for access to healthy meals," said Julia Sclafani, Public Relations Specialist at ECECD. "We are committed to ensuring these essential services remain available for families who need them most."
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered locally by ECECD. Participation in CACFP helps ensure that children and adults in care settings receive balanced meals throughout the day.
